On 8 April, a wave of Israeli air strikes hit around 100 locations across Lebanon within ten minutes, making it the deadliest day of the conflict. In Beirut’s Hay el Sellom district and other affected areas, hundreds were killed and more than 1,000 injured, according to Lebanese authorities. In the aftermath, the BBC World Service investigated the strikes, examining conflicting claims from Israel, Hezbollah and Lebanon’s Ministry of Health over the nature of the targets and those killed.

Inspired by the film’s sombre tone, the visual treatment pairs restrained colour and texture with a bold cyan accent. This deliberate contrast guides the viewer’s eye, highlighting critical data points, strike locations and moments of narrative significance.

Real-world strike coordinates were mapped to pinpoint missile impacts, creating a powerful visual heat map of destruction across Lebanon. The maps were produced using GEOLayers within Adobe After Effects.
