Review film created for The Guardian, reflecting on the defining stories of 2025 — from world-shaping political moments in the Oval Office to the human stories that gave the year its emotional weight. The piece brought together major headlines, features, and investigations to show how Guardian journalism documented a year marked by constant change and uncertainty.
The visual approach centred on typography as the driving element. Type was designed to break free from the traditional constraints of page and screen, expanding, shifting, and filling the frame to mirror the scale and intensity of the events being described. The intention was to create a sense of momentum and impact, allowing the words themselves to carry the energy of what had been an extraordinary and often unpredictable year. Edited by Jem Talbot.
