These stories lived entirely in the online space, so the visual approach had to reflect that—full of glitches, pixels, and emojis. There was a mountain of content to work with, and my challenge was to wrangle the wild west of online material into something clear, engaging, and responsible.

Originally launched as a six-part series (and still going strong), Why Do You Hate Me? follows the BBC’s Disinformation and Social Media Correspondent, Marianna Spring, as she digs into extraordinary cases of online hate.
